ABOUT US
"We, members of Kaluanã, recognize that the land in which we live, work, learn and share is the original homeland of tribal nations.
These nations are countless and spread out over the soil of this territory that colonialism called Brazil.
We recognize the painful history of genocide and forced removal of the owners of this territory. We also recognize that these nations are still under colonialist oppression by Brazilian society.
We honour and respect the diverse indigenous peoples still connected to this land in which we gather. We express our deepest gratitude to them "

Recognizing the land is an expression of gratitude and appreciation for those whose territory we reside.
Kaluanã aims to honor in each of our actions the indigenous people who live and work on the land since time immemorial. We understand the long history that brought us to live in this land and that is why we seek to understand our place in this history.
We understand and recognize that we are still in the phase of colonialism and that this is a current process in progress.
Kaluanã feels the urgency to build awareness of our participation in this present process.

“For those who don't understand our language, I will translate. The Guarani people were like a river that flowed slowly in its course when a giant stone was thrown into the stream. The water splashed to several corners. And the survivors are gathered here today ”, says Guarani- Kaiowá Anastácio Peralta, under the eyes of agreement of his 'relatives' from Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay.”

ABOUT US
We were born in Belém do Pará, in the middle of forests and streams.
We would like to pay tribute to the Avá Canoeiro Tribe, for inspiring us and being masters of the art of living in canoes and living in the rhythm of the river.
Thanks to ancestral tribes who invented and live on boats, we can develop our skills with the canoe and other water craft. Avá, means people, and like them we are "canoe people" inspired by these ancestral masters of life on the river.
