Since 2001, the dissemination of techniques with minimal impact on the recreational use of natural areas is one of Kaluanã's main environmental projects. Recreational use means any non-productive activity in natural areas (eg, sports, leisure, tourism, etc.).
Since the industrial revolution, we human beings have been negatively impacting the Planet like never before in our history. For the first time we broke a natural cycle (that of carbon), polluted most of the great rivers, infested the oceans with plastic, deforested most of the world's great forests, extinguished an immense number of living beings, including our own species, through genocide of native peoples, and others.
Today, with almost 8 billion inhabitants, relearning to live more consciously and with less impact is fundamental for the survival of the Planet and our own species.
Through programs like Leave no Trace, Kaluanã aims to bring to light that the care of natural areas is the only chance to reverse the current situation of our Planet. It is through the education and promotion of these principles that we propose to do this.

The Seven Principles of Leave No Trace provide practices with minimal impact for those who frequent natural areas.
The Principles have been adjusted so that they can be practiced in any environment of natural areas (from wild areas to state and national parks) and urban areas (squares, streets and houses).
Each Principle was designed based on detailed information to minimize the impacts of those who visit common areas. There are no prohibitions or regulations, information is provided on the consequences of decisions and actions.
Respect for Nature and environmental awareness are fundamental to this educational philosophy, which is summarized in 7 basic principles.

In 2016, in partnership with Gaudério Adventure, Kaluanã started to train Leave No Trace coaches in southern Brazil. We trained a few dozen committed and engaged Leave No Trace trainers.
From 2021, Kaluanã will also be training masters in Leave No Trace.
All of our activities are based on the principles of minimum impact developed by the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, USA.
