
Karin Silberberg
In Kaluanã, Karin is Education and Technical Director, Risk Manager for courses and events and Leader Instructor for courses, expeditions and training.
She has extensive experience in long-term expeditions in remote areas and is also a senior field instructor at NOLS (NOLS.EDU). Karin has been leading students on long expeditions to remote areas since 2005. Most of her field weeks are in remote areas off the coast of Patagonia, Alaska and the Amazon. She also does expeditions in Scandinavia, the Rockies and Brazil. Karin has established herself as an Outdoor Life Educator and Master of Low Impact Techniques “Leave No Trace” by Leave at Trace Outdoor Ethics Center USA since 2008.
Karin is a former athlete in nature endurance sports such as Triathlon, Adventure races and Water Marathons.
She started to work with Outdoor Education through Kaluanã in 2005 and later with Outward Bound Brasil in 2007.
Karin is an Emergency Medicine Technician in Remote Areas - WEMT (Wilderness Emergency Medical Tecnichian) with NOLS Wilderne c Medicine and also Instructor of First Aid courses in Remote Areas (NOLS.EDU).
Karin holds the ACA (ACA.ORG) Open Water Ocean Kayak Instructor Level 4 certifications.
Karin is also a certified professional coach and group facilitator (SLAC - Latin American Coaching Society).
In addition, Karin is a physiotherapist specializing in Chinese medicine, Yoga and neuroscience. As a physiotherapist, Karin divides her time between patient care and teaching and researching human physiology and kinesiology for the largest Yoga Center in Latin America - Centro de Yoga Montanha Encantada.
When in Brazil (and not abroad on an Expedition), Karin lives in Garopaba, close to nature and the sea, dividing her time between her activities in Kaluanã and at the Yoga Mountain Enchanted Center.
Karin loves the learning opportunities she shares with her students in all of the areas described above.
